It’s easy to get stuck in the motions and sometimes overwhelming day to day of university deadlines and social pressures. However, it is important to take a break from your usual surroundings to give yourself a chance to relax as a change of scene is good for your mental health. Here are just a few places that you could go to take that well needed break off campus:
• Go for a walk:
If you’re in need of a bit of nature and a nice place to stretch your legs, Wollaton Park and Attenborough Nature Reserve are two places in Nottingham perfect for a short walk. Whichever campus you are on both are easy to get to via train, bus or car.
• Relax in a nice, quirky café:
Café Sobar in the city centre is lovely place to grab some lunch and hang out, they do the best cakes and even do 10% student if you show your student card.
If you’re a cat person, then the Kitty Café is the place for you. It’s a great place to sit back and grab a cat cuddle with your cup of tea or coffee!
• Look round an art gallery:
Nottingham Contemporary is Nottingham’s contemporary art gallery and is a great way to relax for an hour or two. They also have a great shop and newly renovated café bar! Check out their website to see what’s on: www.nottinghamcontemporary.org/
• Browse some indie magazines and books:
Hidden away within Cobden Chambers in Hockley, is a wonderful little independent magazine and book shop called Ideas on Paper. It is a great place to go and find your favourite new magazine or book and the shop owner Alex Smith is always happy to chat and give great recommendations too!
